Either Gilt Edging with foil or painted edges are used to create a visual finish that sets some products apart from the rest. For commercial reasons typically edging is restricted to longer runs which means fewer people use it, and those who do are instantly noticeable. We would encourage you to consider if you can build it into your print job.
Edge finishing is most effective on thicker products where the exposed edge is clearly visible, such as duplex or triplex cards. Provide the finished size, quantity, stock thickness and required gilt or paint colour. If the edge should match a printed brand colour, supply a colour reference and discuss the achievable tolerance. The process is generally more commercially suitable for longer runs, so include anticipated repeat requirements when requesting a quote.
